Introduction
Hey everyone! Today I want to show you how Jesus didn’t just call priests or temple workers—He called entrepreneurs. Business-minded people. Fishermen with boats, tax collectors with money, and even wealthy patrons with resources.
And this message is personal to me. Before God called me into full-time ministry, I was an entrepreneur. I ran event management companies, filmmaking companies, photography companies, and even designed websites. I learned how to organize big meetings, handle production, do marketing and sales, and run businesses.
And when the Lord gave me the vision to win India and America for Jesus, all of those entrepreneurial skills became tools for ministry. Money became a tool to build God's kingdom. I could step into crusades, production, and church planting because God had already trained me through business.
👉 Let’s look at Scripture—God uses entrepreneurs today for His Kingdom.
1. Fishermen – Small Business Owners
Luke 5:10–11 (NIV) – “Then Jesus said to Simon, ‘Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.’ So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.”
Mark 1:19–20 (CSB) – “Going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat putting their nets in order. Immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.”
Peter, Andrew, James, and John ran fishing businesses with boats and hired men. They knew leadership, risk-taking, and resource management. Jesus didn’t waste their entrepreneurial skills; He redirected them into ministry.
💡 Just like them, God took my event management skills—organizing large meetings—and turned them into crusade management for His glory.
2. Tax Collectors – Finance & Administration
Matthew 9:9 (NIV) – “As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. ‘Follow me,’ he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.”
Luke 19:2, 8 (CSB) – “There was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich… But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, ‘Look, I’ll give half of my possessions to the poor, Lord. And if I have extorted anything from anyone, I’ll pay back four times as much.’”
Matthew and Zacchaeus were financially smart entrepreneurs. Jesus called them, proving He can redeem even controversial businesspeople.
💡 In my journey, I learned marketing and sales in business. Today, those skills help me run ads, design outreach campaigns, and reach thousands with the Gospel. God redeems business knowledge and uses it for Kingdom finance and administration.
3. Wealthy Patrons – Funding the Mission
Luke 8:2–3 (NIV) – “The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene)… Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.”
Women like Joanna, Susanna, and Mary Magdalene funded Jesus’ ministry out of their own resources. Without their financial partnership, Jesus and His disciples could not travel and minister as they did.
💡 I’ve seen the same in my ministry: entrepreneurs and partners come alongside us, fueling the mission with their giving. My entrepreneurial background also taught me how to communicate vision so that others will sow into Kingdom work.
4. Joseph of Arimathea – Strategic Investor
Matthew 27:57–60 (CSB) – “When it was evening, a rich man from Arimathea named Joseph came, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. He approached Pilate and asked for Jesus’s body. Then Pilate ordered that it be released. So Joseph took the body, wrapped it in clean, fine linen, and placed it in his new tomb, which he had cut into the rock. He left after rolling a great stone against the entrance of the tomb.”
Isaiah 53:9 (NIV) – “He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.”
Joseph gave his own tomb for Jesus’ burial. His resource was used strategically to fulfill prophecy.
💡 Just like Joseph, I’ve learned through entrepreneurship to use resources wisely and at the right time. In ministry, timing is everything—knowing when to invest in equipment, when to book venues, when to launch.
5. Tentmakers – Paul’s Example
Acts 18:3 (NIV) – “Because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.”
Paul made tents to support himself while preaching. Marketplace ministry wasn’t separate from spiritual ministry—it was part of it.
💡 In my early days, I had to do everything solo—filmmaking, photography, web design, production. That “tentmaking” season trained me to be self-reliant while trusting God. Now, as the ministry grows, those skills help me lead teams and train others.
Why This Matters Today
Jesus used entrepreneurs then, and He still does today.
My own life is proof—God took my entrepreneurial journey and turned it into a Kingdom assignment.
Every skill, every resource, every lesson in business became preparation for ministry.
👉 And I believe He is calling entrepreneurs in this room to see your business not just as a career, but as Kingdom training ground.
