Healings, Deliverance and Authority

Summary of Sermon:

Healings, Deliverance, and Authority

1. Authority Given by Jesus

God has given us, His children, authority to walk in healings, deliverance, and miracles. This authority is not just for the apostles or special people, but for every believer who understands their identity as a son or daughter of God. The supernatural is not for show — it is to bring glory to Jesus.

Luke 10:19

"I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you."

John 14:12-14

"Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."

Matthew 28:18-20

"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'"

Jesus has already transferred His authority to His disciples. He expects us to move with confidence because He has promised that He is with us always.

2. Obedience is the Key

The power is already given. What remains is simple obedience to Jesus. The early disciples did not question whether they had enough power — they simply obeyed.

Matthew 10:7-8

"As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give."

Luke 9:1

"When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases."

Acts 3:6-8

"Then Peter said, ‘Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.’ Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk."

Acts 5:15-16

"As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed."

Acts 8:6-7

"When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said. For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed."

Healing the sick, casting out demons, and performing miracles were part of the disciples’ normal ministry life because they chose to simply obey.

3. Dealing with Religious People

Supernatural ministry is Obedience and not performance. To the religious, healings, deliverance, miracles, and signs become nothing more than a show, rather than simple, childlike obedience to Jesus, which is why they criticize those moving in miracles. It's their insecurity!

Some people, influenced by a religious spirit, will criticize supernatural ministry. But remember, even Jesus faced opposition from the Pharisees. Stay humble, stay obedient.

1 Corinthians 13:2

"If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing."

1 Samuel 16:7

"The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

Supernatural ministry without love is empty. Love must be the foundation.

4. Anointing for Healing

The same anointing Jesus carried is available to us. The Holy Spirit lives in us to continue the works of Jesus.

Luke 4:18-19

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor."

Acts 10:38

"God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him."

Romans 8:11

"And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you."

We carry resurrection power. The same Spirit that raised Jesus lives in us.

5. Resurrection Power and Deliverance

Acts 9:40-41

"Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, 'Tabitha, get up.' She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers and the widows and presented her to them alive."

Peter didn’t wonder if it was God’s will — he knew it was, because Jesus had already commanded him. He obeyed.

Acts 16:18

"Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, ‘In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!’ At that moment the spirit left her."

Deliverance is part of the normal ministry of the Gospel.

6. Final Declaration

Philippians 2:9-11

"Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

  • Detailed Sermon Study Notes: Authority to Heal, Deliver, and Perform Miracles

God has handed over authority to us, His children, to represent Him and fully exercise what He has commissioned us to do. The key to walking in this authority is understanding that we are truly His children. God's desire is to move through us, not just for us. We are sons and daughters of the King! He rejoices when we believe in the supernatural because He is a God of the supernatural.

The supernatural always brings glory to Jesus!

However, love is the foundation. Love is not just something God does — God is Love (1 John 4:8). Love comes from God and is the greatest commandment.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”This is the first and greatest commandment.Matthew 22:37-38 (NIV)

Supernatural ministry without love is empty. Without love, even miracles, signs, and wonders can become like mere magic. The supernatural is not for power, fame, or just for the spectacular — it is the natural overflow of God's presence through us. We don't force it; we overflow with it because God Himself overflows through us.

"If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing."1 Corinthians 13:2 (NIV)

Let's look at some scriptures that talk about how God gave us His authority and dominion over the things of this world and the demonic forces.

  1. Luke 10:19"I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you."

  2. John 14:12-14"Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."

  3. Matthew 28:18-20"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."

  4. Matthew 10:7-8"As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give."

  5. Luke 9:1"When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases."

It is a command Jesus gave us — "GO"! Go and proclaim the Gospel! It is a commission from God to heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, and drive out demons — and to do it freely, because we have freely received authority.

"Freely you have received." Many times, we focus on the word freely, but even if you remove that word, God is still saying, You have received!

So, if you have received this anointing from the Holy Spirit, then it is time to freely give! We are not waiting to receive — we already have. Now, we give because He has already poured it out on us!

Let's continue to look at these scriptures:

Obedience:

  • How the disciples and the apostles of the early church, obeyed Jesus

The ministry of healings, deliverance, and miracles is not about you or me — it is about Jesus, and it is about those who are struggling. More than anything, it is about obedience to Jesus!

Jesus has commanded us to tear down the demonic strongholds that the devil has over people. We must obey Jesus and walk in healings and miracles through faith! It is not about your confidence, or even about whether the miracles will happen instantly or not — it is about obedience to Jesus.

This is exactly what the disciples did. They obeyed Jesus even when persecution came. Many times, we think that preaching the Gospel alone is obedience, but healing the sick is also obedience to Jesus! Delivering those who are oppressed by the devil is also obedience.

So, you are only fully obeying Jesus when you are walking in the authority He gave you. This means, if the Lord has commissioned you to heal the sick, and you don’t pray for the sick, that is actually disobedience. If God brings the sick across your path, and you lack the compassion to pray for them and release the healing and anointing you have freely received, then you are disobeying.

So let us reflect on our hearts, repent of religious and prideful attitudes, and start obeying Jesus fully!

  1. Acts 3:6-8"Then Peter said, ‘Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.’ Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong."

  2. Acts 5:15-16"As a result, people brought the sick into the streets... so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them... All of them were healed."

  3. Acts 8:6-7"When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said. For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed."

The Best Way to Deal with Religious People - People of no faith

Religious spirits — and the people influenced by them — often resist and oppose the supernatural. The root of this resistance is usually pride, which works subtly to discourage obedience to Jesus.

In today's world, many religious people view the supernatural as a performance, because their minds have been corrupted by tradition, pride, and fear of man. To them, healings, deliverance, miracles, and signs become nothing more than a show, rather than simple, childlike obedience to Jesus.

But the supernatural was never meant to be about performance — it is about love, compassion, and obedience. Jesus did not perform miracles to entertain; He did them because He was moved with compassion and was obeying the Father's will.

Religious people often fail to understand that when we heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out demons, we are simply obeying the Lord. They measure everything by outward appearance, forgetting that “The Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).

The best way to deal with religious people is not to argue but to stay humble, loving, and obedient. Let your fruit speak. Let your love, compassion, and obedience reveal Jesus. Remember, even Jesus did not convince all the Pharisees — but He kept healing, delivering, and obeying His Father.

  • Anointing for Healing

    1. Luke 4:18-19"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor... to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

    2. Acts 10:38"God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him."

When Jesus commissioned us to heal the sick, cast out demons, and raise the dead, He was giving us His authority! This is the authority He handed over to us as His disciples.

The same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead — the One who carries the resurrection power — now lives inside of us.

“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”(Romans 8:11 NIV)

This means that we carry the same anointing Jesus had, because the same Spirit lives within us when we are filled and baptized in the Holy Spirit.

“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”(John 14:12 NIV)

So, this is not a lesser anointing, a different power, or a diluted commission — it is the full power of the Holy Spirit, given freely to every believer who is filled with Him.

  • Obedience and Resurrection Power

    1. Acts 9:40-41 (Raising the Dead)"Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, 'Tabitha, get up.' She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers and the widows and presented her to them alive."What if Peter had not obeyed the Holy Spirit here? It's never a question of whether we should heal the sick or attempt to raise the dead — it is already written and commanded to do so. Peter did not stop to pray if he should do it. He simply did it because Jesus had already commissioned him.The question is not, "Should I?", but rather, "Will I obey?"The commission has been given. The authority has been handed over. The Holy Spirit is already within us. What remains is simple, childlike, bold obedience to do the works Jesus has already commanded.

- Deliverance from Demons

  1. Luke 9:1"When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases."

  2. Acts 16:18"Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, ‘In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!’ At that moment the spirit left her."

Final Declaration and Invitation:
